Ottawa’s karate kid hopes to impress at international competition

Eight-year-old Gabriel Bastien, the pride of Endeavour Martial Arts in Ottawa, is competing in the World Kickboxing and Karate Association Championships in Carrara, Italy, this week. Bastien is among the youngest kids competing at this level anywhere, according to sensei James Heaton, the owner of Endeavour Martial Arts.

Orford club shines at Euros as Bate scoops double gold

The Orford karateka was one of several Cheshire Martial Arts Centre team members to represent England at the eighth World Union of Karate-Do Federations European Championships in Italy. And the 20-year-old third Dan returned home with gold medals in the Junior, 18-20 years Individual Female All Styles Kata and Senior, 21-35 years Individual Female All Styles Kata categories.

Karate champion to open new dojo in Romford

A London Olympic torchbearer, Aimee Sell, 21, of Hornchurch, is hoping to open the dojo and 'AS Karate Academy' at New Vibe StudiosBryant Avenue, Romford, on November 16. A karate whizz since she was six years old, the European medalist is hoping to compete at the 2020 games in Tokyo, Japan, as the sport has recently been accepted as an Olympic discipline. She said understanding the hard work and dedication required to become and elite athlete and wants to bring in and train the next generation of future champions from the community.
