Lauren Van Winkle led the Wenatchee School of Karate by being the third woman ever crowned as the adult black belt grand champion in kata at the Central Washington Championship at Yakima Valley Community College on March 18. Ayden Bailey and Drew Pomeroy took home trophies as the junior grand champions in kata and kumite, respectively. “This is very unusual for that many championships to come from one school,” Wenatchee School of Karate sensei Kari Erickson.
