Stratford boy, 14, wins two silver medals in first karate competition

Andre Galis came second in the Individual Kata, a performance against an imaginary opponent, and a combat test called the Individual Kumite at the Japan Karate Association World Championships. Natalia Salisbury, Andre's teacher at Stratford Karate Club, said her orange belt student performed a technically correct choreographed pattern known as Heian Shodan kata or Peaceful Mind One.
