Palatine Karate Club student receives Jennifer Malloy Memorial Scholarship Award

Gurnee resident Ryan Brown, who trains at a Palatine location of the Illinois Shotokan Karate Club, wins the Jennifer Malloy Memorial Scholarship award. Nearly $60,000 in scholarships were awarded at the annual Illinois Shotokan Booster Club Karate Awards Banquet Nov. 12 at the Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows.

Christmas Eve armed raid foiled as shopkeeper turns out to be karate black belt
